Associated Parent Groups

The Hillsborough City School District is happy to thank the parents and community members who donate their time in our schools. Through the Hillsborough Schools Foundation, Concours Events and other volunteer activities ranging from helping with Art In Action to assisting in classrooms, an enormous number of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers donate their time to our schools each year. Many Hillsborough parents are also active in the Parent Group activities. Each school has a parents group and the Associated Parents group coordinates activities between the groups.

To find out more about getting involved with parent groups contact your child's school Parent Group President and/or visit the Parent Group pages for each school.

Hillsborough Citizen of the Year and Community Care Awards

The Hillsborough Schools' Citizen of the Year Award honors a resident who has made a sustained and significant contribution to Hillsborough, especially to the education and well being of our children. Nominees should be widely recognized as respected leaders who have created a lasting legacy for our community. Typically the nominee will have served in a variety of volunteer roles with their contributions spanning a decade or more.

The Community Care Award honors a non-resident, typically in a salaried position with the School District or Town of Hillsborough or other vital community role. Nominee’s will have made a sustained and significant contribution that has broadly touched the lives of our children. These contributions are widely recognized as having lasting impact to our community.

Nominations for both awards are being sought from the entire community. The persons honored are selected by the Associated Parents’ Groups of Hillsborough. Recipients are honored at a dedicated reception.

Our schools have received 26 California Distinguished School Awards, 7 National Blue Ribbon Awards, 29 Kent Awards for Innovative Programs, and numerous other accolades. Our success is due to high quality staff members, committed and involved families and community members, a supportive Board, a cohesive vision, and a strong commitment to excellence.

More than two decades of research findings are unequivocal: the most important aspect of a school in terms of student learning is teacher quality, and our teachers are among the best!

Students in TK-2 have access to a reading specialist. 3rd-5th grade students participate in our Innovation Labs where they create and explore. TK-5 students participate in music classes, and 4th-8th grade students have access to instrument instruction. Spanish instruction begins in 4th grade, and Mandarin is offered in our middle school. All of our schools have a dedicated counselor, teacher librarian, physical educator, and more!

Through the generosity of donors, the Hillsborough Schools Foundation pledged $3.5 million to our schools for this school year. Last year's Fund-A-Need raised funds for traffic and safety. We purchased AEDs for each site, created a new lane at Crocker to ease congestion, and upgraded the safety of our sites through several other facilities projects. Thank you!
