What is HTV?

Hillsborough Educational Television (HTV) is a local access cable station that broadcasts on Comcast Channel 27. HTV is owned and produced by the Hillsborough City School District (HCSD). Our mission is to create programming by, for and about HCSD students. Programming includes important district information, school presentations, events, musicals, theatrical performances, and more. HTV is a celebration of our children and their adventures in education in the Hillsborough community. Click on the link to the left for school programing information.

HTV Vimeo Channels

We are excited to share some of the HTV programing online at vimeo.com. Vimeo is an award-winning video website that is used by thousands across the nation to broadcast video content. Parents are able to go to our new vimeo channels to search and view content on demand. All programming on vimeo is closely monitored and screened for privacy and safety. We have a channel for each school site and one for the HTV News program at Crocker.

DVDs Available

Many big events such as musicals and band performances are available to parents on DVD. A donation fee of $15 per DVD is requested to help us cover costs and equipment. Please contact your site HTV chairperson for more details about DVD availability.

Ways for students to become involved with HTV

HTV is active at all schools in the district. At Crocker, the HTV Morning News is a live daily newscast produced by students. The class is taught by Mr. Hager in our new, state-of-the-art television studio. In addition, Crocker offers a News Segments video production course. At each elementary school short newscasts will be produced throughout the year. Check with your site HTV Chair for more information.

Our schools have received 26 California Distinguished School Awards, 7 National Blue Ribbon Awards, 29 Kent Awards for Innovative Programs, and numerous other accolades. Our success is due to high quality staff members, committed and involved families and community members, a supportive Board, a cohesive vision, and a strong commitment to excellence.

More than two decades of research findings are unequivocal: the most important aspect of a school in terms of student learning is teacher quality, and our teachers are among the best!

Students in TK-2 have access to a reading specialist. 3rd-5th grade students participate in our Innovation Labs where they create and explore. TK-5 students participate in music classes, and 4th-8th grade students have access to instrument instruction. Spanish instruction begins in 4th grade, and Mandarin is offered in our middle school. All of our schools have a dedicated counselor, teacher librarian, physical educator, and more!

Through the generosity of donors, the Hillsborough Schools Foundation pledged $3.5 million to our schools for this school year. Last year's Fund-A-Need raised funds for traffic and safety. We purchased AEDs for each site, created a new lane at Crocker to ease congestion, and upgraded the safety of our sites through several other facilities projects. Thank you!
